FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still on the fence? Your answer is probably here.

Five concrete differences, rather than a sales pitch.

  • Eve, our AI botanist. Other apps show a generic care sheet; Eve answers with your plant, its light and the season in mind.
  • The depth of each profile: watering, light, humidity, substrate, toxicity, mature height, where most apps stop at the species name.
  • A diagnosis that does not merely name the problem but walks you through the fix, step by step. It accounts for every characteristic of the plant: window orientation, hours of direct sun it receives, heating or air conditioning nearby, room humidity and your local weather.
  • Reminders for every task and for each of your plants: watering, misting, fertilizing, repotting. We keep the calendar, you just take care of the plants.
  • Precise instructions before you go away: what to do the day before, what each plant can take without you, and what to arrange if you are gone longer.

And Plenova stays usable for free, with no ads, with an interface and a flow designed alongside botanists then refined through feedback to stay simple day to day.

Plenova combines photo-based plant identification, health diagnosis (yellow leaves, pests, spots) and personalized watering reminders in a single app. Rated 4.8/5 on the App Store, available on iPhone, iPad and Android, in English and 28 other languages.

Yes. You can use Plenova for free and add up to three plants in your collection at the same time. A Premium plan is available to unlock every feature without limits.

No. You can identify plants and build your collection without creating an account. An account only becomes useful to find your collection again on another device, or after changing phone.

Eve is the botanical assistant built into the app. She knows the plants in your collection, the room each one lives in and its health history, and answers in that context rather than from a standard care sheet. Ask her which plant suits a dark room, why a leaf is yellowing, or whether your cat is at risk: she answers in seconds, in your language.

Every plant gets its own calendar, covering watering, misting, fertilizing and repotting. The rhythm starts from the needs of the species, then adjusts to the season, the size and material of the pot, the substrate and the light in the room. A Monstera by a south-facing window in July does not follow the same rhythm as the same Monstera in a hallway in January. You confirm each task with one tap and the calendar re-times itself.

This is the number one cause of lost plants: not forgetting to water, but watering at the wrong moment, almost always too often. A reminder tuned to the species and the season replaces the Sunday-morning habit that drowns a succulent and dries out a fern. And past three or four plants, keeping every rhythm in your head stops being realistic.

Plenova recognizes thousands of species, from the most common houseplants to rarer varieties. Recognition keeps improving with each update.

Yes. The catalogue covers houseplants, balcony and garden plants, and vegetables and herbs. For plants marked as outdoor, reminders take your local weather into account.

Your plants, their profiles and your reminders stay available offline. Photo identification, health diagnosis and conversations with Eve need a connection, since they run on our servers.

You enter your departure and return dates. Plenova adjusts reminders so your plants make it through, and suggests pet-sitter solutions for longer breaks.

Yes. Every plant card highlights risks for cats, dogs, and small children, with a clear note on what to avoid.

No, and we would rather say so plainly. The diagnosis identifies the most common causes and the right actions, which covers the large majority of cases. For a rare specimen, a valuable tree or an infestation that will not shift, a nursery specialist remains the right person to ask. If a child or animal swallows part of a plant, contact a poison control centre or a veterinarian immediately.

You keep your plants and your history, nothing is deleted. The app simply returns to the free tier, with three active plants at a time. You choose which ones stay active; the others are kept and come back if you resubscribe.

Your photos and your collection belong to you. Plenova only uses your data to run the app and improve recognition, never to profile you.

On iPhone and iPad via the App Store, and on Android via Google Play.
