I had lost two orchids in six months. Plenova told me I was overwatering. Today they bloom again.

Calathea Hello! I’m Eve, your pocket botanist. Watering, light, diseases, picking a plant: ask me anything.
Which plant suits a dark room?
A Zamioculcas or a Sansevieria are excellent picks: both tolerate low light very well. Just water them less, since the soil dries far more slowly in those conditions.
What do you make of my Calathea? The dry brown patches on the variegated leaves point to too much moisture around the roots. Stretch watering to every 10 to 12 days and make sure water is not sitting in the saucer.

The leaf diagnosis saved my fig tree. The app told me right away it was water excess, two weeks later it bounced back.
Exactly the app I was missing. It recognizes everything I show it, even rare plants I brought back from a trip.
Watering reminders are spot on. I used to track everything in a Notes app, now I just follow Plenova and things are better.
Very thorough. Holiday mode is great when we leave for two weeks, we come back and everything is still green.

Frequently asked questions
Still on the fence? Your answer is probably here.
A few things set us apart, beyond the photo identification that every app now offers.
- Eve, our AI botanist: she doesn’t recite a generic sheet, she answers knowing your plant, the room it lives in and the current season.
- A diagnosis that goes all the way to the action: instead of just naming the problem, Plenova lays out the care protocol, step by step.
- In-depth profiles: watering, light, humidity, soil, toxicity, mature size, where many stop at the species name.
- Tracking by room and by season: every reminder factors in the room’s exposure, the pot, your local weather and the time of year.
And all of it stays free to use, ad-free, with an experience designed to stay simple day to day.
Yes, the core of Plenova works without paying anything: you can identify plants and tend a small garden from the moment you install it. Premium lifts the limits, unlimited plants, identifications and diagnoses, advanced reminders, for anyone managing a real collection.
Plenova is available on iPhone and iPad through the App Store, and on Android through Google Play. One app, whatever your device.
No, Plenova works without any sign-up or account. You install the app and start right away, with no email or password to enter. Your garden is saved straight onto your device.
You frame the plant, and Plenova compares the image against its botanical reference to suggest the most likely species, with a confidence score. Once the species is confirmed, its care sheet fills in automatically and joins your garden.
Eve is the app’s botanical assistant. Unlike a fixed sheet, she takes into account the plants in your collection, the room each one grows in and its history. You ask her a question in plain words, why a leaf is yellowing, which plant suits a dark corner, whether something is risky for your cat, and she answers in seconds.
From a photo of the symptoms, the analysis traces the most likely cause rather than just the visible symptom, then gives you a health score and a concrete action plan. It cross-checks what it sees with the plant’s context: exposure, recent watering, nearby heating or air conditioning, room humidity.
Each plant gets its own schedule for watering, misting, feeding and repotting. The rhythm starts from the species’ needs, then adjusts to the pot’s size and material, the soil, the room’s exposure and the time of year.
Yes, and that’s the whole point. A watering shifts when it rains, picks up during a heatwave, spaces out in winter as growth slows. For plants you’ve marked as outdoors, Plenova follows your city’s weather and can warn you before a frost.
The engine covers several hundred thousand species, from the most common houseplants to far rarer varieties. The catalogue and recognition accuracy grow with every update.
Yes, Plenova isn’t limited to indoors. You can track balcony and garden plants, the terrace as well as the vegetable patch and herbs, each in its own space. For outdoor plants, the reminders factor in local weather.
By entering the window’s orientation, the distance and the hours of sun, Plenova judges whether a spot suits the species and tells you, room by room, where the plant will be happiest. Move it, and the verdict updates.
You enter how long you’ll be away, and Plenova prepares each plant accordingly: what to do the day before you leave, what each one can handle without you, and a gentle restart when you’re back. For a longer absence, the app flags the plants that genuinely need someone to look after them.
Your garden, your plants’ sheets and your reminders stay available offline. Photo identification, the diagnosis and chatting with Eve, however, rely on our servers and so need a connection.
Yes. Each sheet flags any toxicity for cats, dogs and young children, with an explanation of what to avoid. In case of ingestion, contact a vet or a poison control centre without delay.
No, and we say so plainly. The diagnosis covers the most common causes and the right reflexes, which is enough in the vast majority of cases. For a rare specimen, a valuable tree or a stubborn infestation, a professional remains the right person to ask.
Nothing is deleted: your plants and their history are kept. The app simply returns to free mode, with a limited number of active plants at a time. You choose which to keep active; the others stay in memory and come back if you resubscribe.
Your photos and your collection belong to you. They are used to run the app and improve recognition, never to profile you or to be resold. You stay in control and can delete your content at any time.
